Information We Collect

PlainRent is designed to help you research fair market rents without compromising your privacy. We track site usage through Umami, a privacy-first analytics service that avoids cookies entirely and never collects identifying information about visitors. All the usage data we review, page views, referring websites, and device types, is aggregated and anonymous.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

PlainRent does not set first-party cookies. However, third-party services used on this site may set cookies:

  • Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's DoubleClick cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing patterns.
  • Cloudflare may set security cookies (e.g., __cf_bm) to distinguish humans from bots.

Your browser's light/dark theme preference is stored in localStorage, which never leaves your device.

Data Sources

All data displayed on this site comes from publicly available Fair Market Rent data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). No private or proprietary data is used. No personally identifiable information from these datasets is stored or displayed.

Editorial Independence & How Content Is Produced

PlainRent content is compiled by our editorial team from official source data. Raw data from HUD, the U.S. Census Bureau, and related housing-finance agencies is transformed into readable profiles through our continuous editorial pipeline, then validated against the source before publication. The PlainRent Editorial is responsible for editorial standards and corrections.

We do not accept payment, sponsorship, or promoted placement from government agencies, environmental organizations, or any covered entity. Our only revenue source is contextual display advertising served by Google AdSense, advertisers do not influence which entities we cover or how we present data, and they do not receive preferential placement.

Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar privacy regulations, you have the right to:

  • Request deletion of your data

Children's Privacy

PlainRent does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
